Information Page
How To Join
In the first instance, just turn up at one of our meetings (accompanied by a
parent or guardian who can introduce you to the Guide Leader). You don't have to
have a uniform to come along for the first time. A very warm welcome awaits you
and our leaders will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Contact
us us for details about times and venues.
Ages
Any girl aged seven and over can be a Brownie. The oldest Brownies are
usually about ten years old. From the age of ten, girls are able to become
Guides. The oldest Guides are normally 14 years old. After leaving Guides, girls
are eligible to become Young Leaders.
Meetings
Meetings take place every week during term times (Brownies for 1 hour and
Guides for 1½ hours). There
are lots of opportunities for Brownies and Guides to take part in special
activities and events at the weekend or during holidays.

How much does it cost ?
Weekly subs are 50p per child, payable at each meeting. All proceeds go
toward providing activities and resources for 2nd Bickerstaffe Brownies and
Guides. There
is also an annual subscription to The Guide Association. Last year this was
£11.60 per person. The annual subscription is usually due at the end of February
but your Guider will write to you nearer the time to let you know the exact
amount and due date. For events like camps, holidays, days out or weekend
adventures, an extra charge is usually made.
